Sandhills Beef Cattle Conference

The conference will begin at 8 a.m. with a breakfast, with the program following from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost of the conference is $30 per participant and can be paid at the door. There also will be a trade show featuring local and statewide vendors.

Breakfast and lunch are included. Persons interested in attending need to RSVP by July 21 by contacting Dena Floyd, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent, Winkler and Loving counties, at 432-586-2593 or by email at dena.floyd@ag.tamu.edu.

MORNING SESSIONS FEATURE WEATHER, LAW TALKS

The morning schedule of speakers will feature Jonathan Jennings, Ph.D., project meteorologist, West Texas Weather Modification Association, San Angelo. Jennings will discuss cloud seeding. Other speakers include David Anderson, Ph.D., professor and AgriLife Extension economist, Bryan-College Station, State Rep. Brooks Landgraf, Odessa, and Regan Beck, director of Government Affairs for Texas Farm Bureau, Waco..

Anderson will speak on the state of the economy and Landgraf and Beck will give an update on new legislation that affects agricultural producers.

OTHER ACTIVITIES AND TOPICS

There also will be a summary of the Brewster County Beef 706 program led by Bruce Carpenter, Ph.D., professor and AgriLife Extension livestock specialist, Fort Stockton; Dan Hale, Ph.D., professor and AgriLife Extension associate director for agriculture and natural resources, Bryan-College Station; and Luke Hendryx, AgriLife Extension agent for Brewster and Jeff Davis counties.

Attorney Joe Will Ross, San Angelo, will then discuss eminent domain and how this will affect ag producers.
